Is Palantir Stock a Buy? It Fell 354 Places on Our Board — While the Stock Rose 42%

We analyzed the transcripts of 38 finance YouTube channels we track daily. Twenty-six of them carry a qualified call on Palantir761 calls in total, the third most-covered name in our database behind Tesla and Nvidia — and the latest stances split 12 buy, 2 hold, 2 sell, 10 avoid. Seven weeks ago that same file scored 86 out of 100 and ranked #4 on our board. Today it scores 2 out of 100 and ranks #371 of 2,056 — a fall of 354 places in a single week, without a single creator turning on the business. The stock did the opposite: $125.65 on August 3, $178.16 today, up 41.8% through the earnings gap. Here is what changed in the file, who filed the calls that changed it, and why price and rank moved in opposite directions.

TL;DR

  • 26 channels cover Palantir: latest stances 12 buy · 2 hold · 2 sell · 10 avoid — but three of those buys are conditional, so the weighted arithmetic reads 9 buyers against 12 sellers. Consensus score 2/100, direction mixed, rank #371 of 2,056, down 354 places week over week.
  • Three negative calls landed in seven days — a sell on August 23, a sell on August 24, and an avoid on August 18 — against a buy side whose newest entry is August 15.
  • The buy side is not stale, it is simply older: four unconditional buys filed between August 3 and August 15, at closes of $125.65, $174.94, $179.01 and $174.04. Three of the four sit within 2.5% of the last close of $178.16 — two marginally ahead, one marginally behind; the August 3 buy is up 41.8%.
  • Palantir is 14.0% below its November 3, 2025 high of $207.18, up 66.1% from its June 25 low of $107.27, and up 6.1% year to date. Price return is not an input to our score.

What the data says

Our score weights every creator’s latest stance by conviction, analysis quality and recency — a 30-day half-life — and then nets the buy side against the sell side. It measures the strength of the net signal, not the stock. A score near zero does not mean “cheap” or “expensive”; it means the two sides have cancelled out.

That is exactly what happened here. The weekly rank ticks: #6 on July 4, #9, #7 on July 18, #14, #16, #23, #17 on August 15 — and #371 today. Nine days ago the net weighted signal on Palantir stood at roughly 1.83; today it is 0.06. The buy side is still worth about 2.61 in weighted terms and the sell side about 2.55. Six hundredths of a point separate them, and that is the whole story of the 354 places: below the top ~50, our board is dense — a stock at #100 scores 23, at #300 it scores 5 — so a file that goes from decisive to balanced falls hundreds of positions without anyone changing their mind about the business.

Three things moved the needle, all of them in the last seven trading days. Two creators filed outright sells (August 23 and August 24), and one filed an avoid (August 18). None of the twelve buy-side stances was renewed in that window, so each one lost roughly a sixth of its weight to decay. For scale on what a balanced file looks like next to a one-sided one: Nvidia sits at #1 with a score of 100 and 20 buyers against 7 sellers across 32 channels, Meta at #2 with 98, and Tesla — the only name in our data with more calls than Palantir — sits at #1,930 because its file resolves the other way, 6 buyers against 18 sellers.

Is Palantir stock a buy? The three calls that broke the tie

  • Felix & Friends (Goat Academy) (Aug 24, sell) is the newest call in the file and the heaviest single weight in it. He had been on avoid since July 19 — “a great business at a fairly terrifying price” — and this week moved to an outright sell, framed as a flow argument rather than a valuation one: big money is trimming the crowded AI names and rotating into cash-generating businesses. His quote: “What’s he selling? Meta, Palantir, Netflix — trimming the very names the crowd is chasing.” Measured record: 69% over 1,588 scored calls, the best hit rate among every creator named in this file, with a 12-month copy-portfolio return of +62.6% against the S&P’s +32.6%. • Adriconomics (Aug 23, sell) is the more honest of the two about what he is doing. He ranked 20 stocks into tiers and had to fill a short bucket; Palantir went into “half-size short,” and his own reasoning argues against the trade: “Palantir is expensive, but it’s always expensive because it grows like crazy. And it’s really not that risky because AI is the future.” He says he hopes it trades sideways for a year. That is a tactical, low-conviction sell — our extractor logged it at conviction 3 of 5 — and it still carries near-full weight because it is one day old. Accuracy 58% over 149 scored calls. • Marco Casario (Aug 18, avoid) is new to this file and the only one making a business argument against the stock rather than a price one: European governments terminating or declining Palantir contracts over data-sovereignty concerns, which he argues costs the company reference clients in a segment it needs for future growth — damaging out of proportion to the revenue at stake today. He is unranked on our board (11 scored calls, below our 20-call threshold), so his stance carries weight in the score but no track record behind it. The fourth negative weight is older and larger than all but one: Everything Money filed an avoid on August 11 at $174.94, on valuation — 137 times free cash flow, roughly 150 times earnings, plus dilution from stock-based compensation, and a model that returns 5.3% a year on middle assumptions. “For me right now, I’m just avoiding the company.” Accuracy 54% over 2,532 scored calls, copy-portfolio +82.6% vs the S&P’s +55.3%. The buy side: four unconditional buys, all inside the earnings window

Nobody on the buy side has retreated. The disagreement is about price, and every buyer in the file is arguing the same fundamentals the sellers concede.

  • Brian Stoffel (Aug 3, buy) filed the day before earnings at $125.65 — the best-timed call in the file, up 41.8%. His argument is that the multiple is the wrong lens: 93% revenue growth, expanding margins, $10 billion in cash against zero debt, and a reverse DCF that he says works if revenue compounds 30% a year for a decade. Accuracy 52% over 114 scored calls. Video: Palantir Trades at 108x Earnings. I’m Still Buying!
  • Parkev Tatevosian, CFA (Aug 11, buy) reiterated after earnings at $174.94 with a published DCF fair value of $193 — a 47% operating margin, rising retention and remaining deal value, and a forward P/E of 70 against 93% revenue growth. It is the third consecutive buy he has filed on this name since July 15. Accuracy 58% over 298 scored calls. Video: PLTR Stock Deep Dive Part 3
  • Stealth Wealth Investing (Aug 15, buy) is the newest buy in the file, at $174.04. Two weeks earlier he had said he would only buy if earnings brought the valuation down; after the print he took the opposite view — that the stock had moved back toward fair value on the strength of the numbers. Accuracy 65% over 179 scored calls.
  • Two further buy-side stances come from creators inside our premium top three, whose identities are paid content. One is unconditional; the other is gated on a pullback, which the board logs as a watcher worth zero.

Then there are the two holds, both from creators who own the stock and both filed in the week after earnings. Invest with Henry (Aug 5) called Palantir a “$170 to $180 stock” as recently as August 4 — and moved to hold the next day, once it got there, five weeks into a target he had set for the first half of 2027. Jerry Romine Stocks (Aug 11) is overweight and holding for the long term on 149% US commercial revenue growth and 85% gross margins, while conceding the valuation. Holds count toward neither side of the score, which is why two of the most-informed positions in the file contribute nothing to the number.

A third group contributes nothing either: three of the twelve buys are conditional. One is gated on a price trigger below the current quote, one on a further software-sector dip, and Let’s Talk Money! with Joseph Hogue, CFA is explicit about his: he would be “a buyer all-in on Palantir if it was down closer to 50 or 60 times price to earnings.” Our board only scores stances you could act on today.

Why the rank fell while the stock rose 42%

Because they measure different things, and this is the cleanest example of it in our data all year.

Between August 3 and August 4 Palantir gapped from $125.65 to $162.66 — a 29.5% single session — and has held the gain, closing at $178.16 on August 24, within 14% of its November high. Every creator who filed after that print, bull or bear, is describing the same quarter: revenue up 93% year over year, US commercial up 149%, GAAP profitable, a balance sheet with no debt. Nobody in this file disputes the business. What the file split on is what that quarter is worth at 137 times free cash flow — and the split is now, in weighted terms, 51/49.

There is one more thing the calendar shows. The buy calls cluster in the five days after earnings, when the numbers were new and the stock was 10-30% cheaper than it is now. The negative calls cluster in the last seven days, after a 42% run. That is the ordinary shape of a stock that has re-rated quickly: the people who bought the quarter did so early, and the people arguing about price started arguing after the price moved. Whether the board is early or wrong here will be settled the same way it always is — by whether the August 3 buy or the August 24 sell is the one that looks obvious in six months. See every call, quote and timestamp on the Palantir stock page.

FAQ

Do more finance YouTubers say buy or sell Palantir stock? Neither, decisively. Of the 38 channels we track, 26 carry a qualified Palantir call, and the latest stances are 12 buy, 2 hold, 2 sell and 10 avoid. Three of the buys are conditional on a lower price or a specific event, so the weighted score nets 9 actionable buyers against 12 sellers — a consensus score of 2 out of 100 with the direction label “mixed.”

Why did Palantir fall 354 places on the BullVox board this week? Three negative calls landed inside seven days — sells on August 23 and August 24 and an avoid on August 18 — while no buy-side stance was renewed and each lost about a sixth of its weight to decay. The net signal fell from roughly 1.83 to 0.06. Price is not an input: the stock rose over the same stretch. Below the top 50 our ranking is dense, so a near-zero net puts a stock in the 300s.

What is the bull case for Palantir stock right now? Execution and duration. The buyers cite 93% revenue growth, 149% growth in US commercial revenue, a 47% operating margin, GAAP profitability, $10 billion in cash with no debt, and enterprise lock-in through the company’s ontology layer. Two published fair values in the file sit at $193 and $159; a third argues a reverse DCF works if revenue compounds 30% a year for ten years.

What is the bear case? Price, mostly, and one thing that is not. The valuation case is 137 times free cash flow, about 150 times earnings, and dilution from stock-based compensation — one model in the file returns 5.3% annually on middle assumptions. The non-valuation case is European government contracts lost over data-sovereignty concerns, which one channel argues costs reference clients the government segment needs. The newest sell is neither: it is a flow call about big money rotating out of crowded AI names.

Has the board been right on Palantir before? It has been early in both directions, and it says so in public. The same file scored 86 out of 100 at rank #4 on July 2, with the stock at $129.30 — that read has worked, +37.8% since. It also carried Palantir at #17 the week before this drop, at prices within 3% of today’s. Our ranking reacts to fresh, weighted opinion, not to price momentum, which makes it early when creators are early and wrong when they are wrong.
